Crab

Oil on paper
Signed Rosemary & Clifford Ellis , and dated 9 , lower left
34 x 48.5cm (13 3/8 x 19in.)

Traces of pencil line to left edge, this probably occurred during the work's conception. There are two large vertical creases running the length of the sheet, as if the sheet was once folded into thirds. There is also a smaller crease visible to at the right of the legs of the crab approx. 5cm. There is a large vertical tear approx 5cm to the upper extreme edge and another smaller approx 2cm with three smaller tears each approx 1cm to the right framing edge, two smaller tears to the lower left framing edge. 1.5 cm tear to the left framing edge. Two losses to the sheet at the upper right corner and one further loss to the upper left corner.Tearing does not affect the image of the crab or seaweed. There are a total of 6 pin sized holes to the corners each corner with creasing. Light handling creases to edges. Some discolouration caused by acidification and fox marks to the sheet verso. There is some additional creasing and a small patch of skinning visible verso. Would recommend viewing.

Royalty For the portion of the Hammer Price (in Euros)
4.00% up to 50,000
3.00% between 50,000.01 and 200,000
1.00% between 200,000.01 and 350,000
0.50% between 350,000.01 and 500,000
0.25% in excess of 500,000

Invoices will, as usual, be issued in Pounds Sterling. For the purposes of calculating the resale royalty the Pounds Sterling/ Euro rate of exchange will be the European Central Bank reference rate on the day of the sale.
