Some additional losses to the gilt and gesso surface.
The surfaces around the male masks and foliate detail to the lower corners of the plate are noticeably fragile with lifting, losses and cracking.
Some cracks follow the underlying structure of the frame where the elements of timber join. In some areas there is minor seperation to joints and in some cases slight movement out of position. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to this.
Some gilt and gesso areas to the reverse of the edge of the frame are also fragile and likely require restoration.
The mirror plate bears areas of depletion in the form of grey coloured patches (see images) This depletion may be simulated as the plate is likely a later replacement. There is no timber panel to the reverse of the mirror. The reverse of the mirror plate is painted.
One carved scroll detail adjacent to one male mask is detached but present.
