A pair of fine silver plated metal columnar table lamps
Sold for £1000
A pair of fine silver plated metal columnar table lamps, late 19th century and later fitted for electricity, the fitments above Composite Order capitals with volutes rising above acanthus fronds, the tapered and fluted shafts on bases with twin torus mouldings and square plinths, the pedestals applied with cast laurel wreaths to each side, above stepped, square section socles, 59cm high overall
The silver plating is rubbed in places and discoloured in others -the lamps would perhaps benefit from a gentle overall clean.
The electrical fitments are of late 20th century make. It is probable that the lamps were originally oil lamps. There is no facility for electrical flex within the shafts of the lamps, so presumably electrical wiring has more recently been fed down the sides of the shafts. The bases are therefore not pierced for wiring.
