A Victorian stained oak and marble mounted columnar pedestal
Sold for £380
A Victorian stained oak and marble mounted columnar pedestal, third quarter 19th century, the rouge and striated white marble top inset above the fluted column and square section base, 114cm high, 33cm wide
(Previously utilised for the bust, lot 358 above)
The marble top, whilst held securely in place by the wooden moulding in which it is inserted, is cracked into three pieces. They are held tightly in place by the wood moulding, and happily support weight, but prospective buyers might wish to have the marble restored.
Generally speaking, and other than the usual minor scruffs and knocks consistent with age and use, the pedestal is in good shape.
The top is 33cm square at its widest point.
The marble insert is 26cm square.
The base is 33.5cm square.
