Note: Alan Mackenzie Howard CBE (1937-2015) was an English actor of screen and stage, a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1966-83. On his mother's side he was related to the novelist Sir Compton Mackenzie and on his father's the film star Leslie Howard. His final television appearance was in the adaptation of Ford Maddox Ford's great novel, Parade's End as Tietjens Senior, father to Benedict Cumberbatch's character Christopher Tietjens. He was married twice, firstly to the actress Stephanie Hinchcliff Davies and secondly to the author and journalist Sally Beauman and they are survived by a son.
