an album of 28 mounted albumen prints of Nepal, including street scenes, and a view of mountaineers in front of the Himalayan mountains, each c.240 x 300mm., or the reverse, a signed presentation copy with an inscription by the author to a member of the present owner's family, green morocco, gilt, large oblong 4to, worn, .
⁂ Dr. Kurt Boeck made four journeys to the Himalayas: in 1890, 1893, 1895, and 1898. The present lot, published in 1903, deals with the 1898 journey; the first time he was granted permission to visit the "forbidden" land of Nepal. His photographs were taken secretly by a camera through a hole in his travelling bag.
