4 parts in 1, first edition , lacking title, 24 stipple-engraved plates by Heyland and others after Heyland, partly printed in colours and partly finished by hand, a few with light offsetting from previous plate, contemporary pastepaper boards, paper label titled in ink, with upper wrapper to first part bound in (browned and with old ink library stamp partly concealed with whitener), rubbed, [Brunet I 1538; Great Flower Books p.85; Nissen BBI 327], 4to (c.330 x 260mm.), Geneva, Barbezat & Delarue, 1825.
⁂ Scarce. Heyland was originally a costume designer for the theatre but under the patronage of de Candolle became one of the leading botanical artists of the period. In 1849 he became botanical painter athe court of the Archduke Rainier, the Austrian Viceroy in Lombardy. According to Brunet the work was limited to 250 copies.
