3 vol. comprising 2 plate vol. and letterpress index, second edition, plate vol. engraved throughout with 1086 engravings on 435 sheets (numbered 1-1059 plus 22 anatomical plates, without figures 89, 164, 195, 196, 222, 923 & 961 as issued but with 12 bis figures), 8 folding and/or double page, part titles and a few illustrations with decorative border, some light offsetting and browning, index a little browned, contemporary calf, gilt, red morocco labels, decorative blue paste-paper endpapers, rubbed, corners a little worn, [Nissen ZBI 2529], folio, Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1770.
⁂ Lister's best known work with over a thousand detailed illustrations of molluscs drawn by his wife and daughter. Originally issued in parts, it seems few copies are identical. Its original publication led to Lister's position as the founder of conchology in England.
