381. Waugh (Evelyn) Vile Bodies, first edition, first issue, signed presentation inscription from the author '"For this body which you call vile, my Lord Jesus Christ was not ashamed to die."' to endpaper, title printed in red & black with design by the author, 2pp. reviews of Decline & Fall at end, bookplate of Janet Marston to pastedown, original patterned cloth, spine very slightly darkened, spine ends and corners a little bumped, otherwise near-fine, dust-jacket, a little darkened at spine and head, repairs and restorations to head and foot, a little rubbed at extremities, but overall a very good copy, preserved in custom drop-back box, 8vo, 1930.
est. £7000 – £10000
Very hard to find in the original dust-jacket, we know of no other inscribed copy. This copy is also present in what would appear to be the preferred, pre-eminent issue, with the price of 7/6 present but also with the advertisements on the lower panel ending on Second Choice, rather than Miss Veil Intervenes.
