First edition of the author's first novel, a legendary rarity. The dust-jacket was designed by Lawrence Durrell's wife, Nancy. Only a few copies sold at the time, much of the later stock was destroyed in the Blitz. We know of only one other copy to appear at auction in the dust-jacket.
