A collection of fifty three valentines, comprising eleven valentines and four other greetings cards with verses on “My Dear One’s Birthday”, “A New Year’s Greeting”, “Blessing” and “Birthday Gift”, all but one in sachet form with pictorial centrepieces or verses printed or woven on silk, the majority with embossed and pierced decoration, three with similar flaps printed in gold or silver; the others including nineteen pictorial cards printed in colour, one by Kate Greenaway, one of a knight, opening to show him kneeling before a young woman; one heart-shaped with a dancing couple opening to reveal the message; and the Illustrated London News suplement with seven illustrations by Kate Greenaway, in gilt card mount, all but the last in three transparent wallet folders, various sizes.
