349. Dante [Harry August Jansen].- Backstage with a Magician, the large backcloth, in original large wicker basket, with the name of Dante still discernible

est. £300 – £400

The backcloth was used in the illusion in which Dante appeared to take the audience backstage. Working with his back to the real audience Dante stood before the imaginary audience displayed on the backdrop which had holes in strategic places so that real hands could project through the backcloth to applaud when necessary, and even smoke a cigar, from the collection of John Daniel.
