51. Portraits of Curious Characters in London, with Descriptive & Entertaining Anecdotes, 24 wood-engraved illustrations, slight stain in outer margins, 2 pp. advertisements at end, original roan-backed marbled boards, 12mo, W. and T. Darton , 1809.

est. £750 – £1000

Apparently only one copy of this book has been sold at auction: an edition of 1806 in the Kit Robbins collection. The present copy, although later, has six additional illustrations, four of which illustrate the lives of John Elwes and Daniel Dancer. The other two are probably those for "The Polite Grocers of the Strand" and "A Well-known Carver in Fleet-Market".
