Lucanus (Marcus Annaeus) Civilis Belli, first Aldine edition , italic letter, some browning, 18th century crimson sheep, sympathetically rebacked by Bayntun of Bath, central gilt lozenges with double gilt filet borders with floral corner-pieces, spine in compartments, richly gilt, [Renouard, Alde p.33. 3; Ahmanson-Murphy 56; Adams L1557], 8vo, [ Venice, Aldus, 1502].

The sixth work to be printed in italic type. It was produced a few months before Aldus adopted his dolphin device.
