The story is the first in the annual. The snowman, built by two young girls, is invited to a party and discovered the following morning still with his party hat on. The frontispiece depicting the snowman surrounded by elves, and full-page illustration of him the way to the party are possibly by Mabel Lucy Attwell herself.
