609. Chandler (Claude) A collection of 106 programmes for dinners, banquets, concerts, ladies nights and other entertainments, all featuring Claude Chandler, mounted on brown paper stubs and arranged chronologically in four ring binders, 4to , 1909-1931
est. £100 – £150
An early postcard portrait inscribed by Claude Chandler to John Salisse is included in the collection. In some of the early programmes he performed as a conjuror and as a ventriloquist, sometimes billed as “Juvenile Conjuror” or “Boy Magician”. A singer named Albert Chandler appears in some of the earlier programmes, possibly the father who introduced his son to performing in public. A photograph of Claude Chandler with other members of “The Radioactivities” is attached to a Brighton West Pier programme for 1918 in which they appeared. In later programmes he also performs original songs and sketches or is billed as an entertainer..
