The artist’s first book illustrations, originally intended to illustrate Le Sphinx but not used. Four of the engravings were published in other publications but the complete set was only issued in this Christmas presentation by Graphia in 1960. Stols was director of the Halcyon Press and noticed these engravings in a Belgian exhibition in 1929, leading to a meeting and a fruitful association and collaboration with Buckland Wright over the next few years.
