Falle’s early and important work on Jersey, here offered with the French edition of the same. These two attractive books have particular interest for collectors as they both bear the ownership inscriptions of Rear Admiral John Saumarez Dumaresq, directly descended from the creator of the map included in both volumes. John Dumaresq (1873-1922) was the first Australian-born officer to command the Australian fleet.
The loose map also present in this lot depicts depths and anchorage points not included in the original for the 1694 edition of Falle’s work.
