59. Boccaccio (Giovanni) Il Decamerone, 5 vol., engraved titles and 110 plates, with 2 duplicate leaves in vol.IV, and 1 extra plate in vol.V, first printing of these plates with the paraphs on the plate verso (these have been trimmed in most cases but are most apparent in vol.V), handsomely bound in contemporary French red morocco, some wear and rubbing to spines and corners, gilt, g.e., very similar in style to the example in the bibliography, [Ray,15, & Appendix 1, #15], 8vo, London [Paris, Prault], 1757 [-61]. This copy is as indicated by Ray almost “an Ideal copy”, it has the Italian text, is printed on Holland paper, has plates marked by paraphs and is bound in a contemporary binding. Of the 110 plates 89 are by Grevelot as are all of the tail-pieces.
