This charming engraving was sent as a greeting card to celebrate the birth of Stanley William Hayter’s second son Augy. The impressed footprint was created by Hayter pressing his son’s foot into a soft-ground covering the etching plate, once bitten in an acid bath the etching plate held the foot print perfectly.
