The earliest of four books in the decorative style predating the revival of typography proper. There is no denying the influence of William Morris. R.N.Roland Holst, who would later marry the author of this book, belonged to the generation of Symbolist painters and illustrators that also included G.W.Dijsselhof, M.A.J.Bauer and Jan Toorop.
