Shakespeare (William) A Midsummer-Night’s Dream, number 141 of 1000 copies signed by the artist, this with a full-page original pen and ink sketch signed and dated by Rackham, 40 tipped-in colour plates by Arthur Rackham, captioned tissue guards, illustrations, very occasional foxing and light browning, handsomely bound in vellum, gilt, by Zaehnsdorf, t.e.g., others uncut, spine slightly spotted, preserved in red morocco-backed cloth drop-back box, 4to, 1908.

The ink sketch, signed by Rackham and dated ‘1931’, depicts Titania waking from her sleep to gaze upon Bottom with his donkey’s head. In the background is a large tree, which clevery contains a self portrait of the artist.
