It is a large building in the Place de Grêve, facing the street are 40 statues of celebrated men which have a very grand effect, the State Apartments are magnificent, and the furniture brilliant everything looked fresh and new - la Salle Napoleon all are gorgeously gilt furniture green damask interspersed with Bees, over the Mantel Piece is a full length picture of Napoleon in his coronation Robes… .”
