9. Dr. William Henry Pigou (1818-1858) hullabeed, the great temple, southern door in east front, c.1857 Albumen print, printed title and plate number ‘XII’ on label on flush mount, inscribed ‘Dr Pigou’ in unknown hand in pencil on mount, window mounted, 26x38cm (10.5x15in.).

Dr Pigou was an amateur photographer of exceptional ability. He served in the Indian Medical Service (Bombay) 1841 - 1858 and succeeded Thomas Biggs as the Government photographer during the Bombay presidency from 1855-1857.
