In 1870 Keulemans issued a prospectus “ ‘an illustrated work that shall give the results of his own personal knowlege…’ He intended to publish twenty parts with 120 plates but in the event only four parts were issued” K&C pp. 19-20.; no title or prelims were ever issued ; the title is supplied from the wrappers found in a handful of copies.
