Loggan (David) [Oxonia Illustrata], 21 plates, only, of 40, from Loggan’s Oxonia Illustrata, including “Theatri Sheldoniani”, “Hortus Botanicus”, “Scholae Publicae”, “Habitus Academici” and many college views, engravings, 11 with hand colouring, each c.240 x 360mm. to 400 x 510mm., central vertical folds, some hinged into mounts, some tears to edges not affecting views, light spotting, browning and surface dirt, 1675 (21)

German draughtsman and line engraver of topographical views. Born in Danzig, he studied under Simon van der Passe and Hendrik Hondius and came to England early in his career. After working in London, he went to Oxford and was appointed engraver to the university. There he produced his famous series of prints, “Oxonia Illustrata”, in 1675.
