Includes the famous plate of the collier which depicts in the background the first representation of a steam-engine on rails, built by Murray & Blenkinsop in Leeds in 1812, about two years before Stephenson’s engine. Other subjects include local trades such as farmers, whalebone scrapers, a dog breaker, factory children, jockies and some gentlemen hawking.
