Wood Blocks.- A collection of wood-engraved blocks, the larger examples including portraits of Henry V, Henry VI, Queen Elizabeth, and James I, three of the blocks opening at seams, approximately 180mm. by 135mm., [c.1860]; a dramatic Scottish scene by W.J. Linton, split at one side; a church in the snow with Christmas bells above and flowers below, by Joseph Henderson?, opened at seams; a portrait of a young woman, short split at lower edge; a foxglove; a block with eight separate images by W. Thomas; a fine armorial bookplate for Stephen Lawley, and a cover illustration for the Enfield Parish Magazine, opened at the seams; the smaller blocks including two for a two-colour device for Longman’s, six portraits of Indian dignitaries, the badge of the Reform Club; four others, and four stereos cast from wood-engravings, various sizes (28)
